Dr. Megan E. Hodge, DVM

Dr. Megan Hodge has always had a special place in her heart for older animals, both as a pet owner and as a professional. Dr. Hodge is a 2021 graduate of the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She was born right here in Kansas City and grew up in the Midwest. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. After her husband finished his assignment with the United States Army, they moved to Laramie, Wyoming where she transitioned from her first career as a registered nurse into veterinary medicine. Dr. Hodge has previously worked with a wide variety of species including pets and farm animals, as both a veterinary technician and a veterinarian with over 8 years of experience in this field.
During her time as a registered nurse and as a veterinarian, Dr. Hodge has deeply enjoyed working with older patients to preserve a high quality of life during the aging process. She has attended additional continuing education seminars focused on geriatric care which have included topics such as pain management, food intake solutions, palliative care, improvements to assist with activities of daily living during the aging process, and ways to assess quality of life. While in Colorado, she received additional certification with CAETA (Companion Animal Euthanasia Training Academy) to be able to provide the most dignified and peaceful passing for her patients as possible, even in the face of advanced illness.
In her spare time, Dr. Hodge enjoys going to Chiefs games and traveling with her husband, Doug, running with her dogs, Mona-Lisa and Marshall, kayaking, hiking, fishing, biking, and a variety of other outdoor activities, as well as painting, reading, and snuggling with her cats, Murphy (the resident senior citizen) and Alexander.
